NSS units of Govt. Law College is conducting a 7 days Special Camp from 2 to 8 Dec 2013 at Kuttichal Panchayat, Trivandrum.

A National Service Scheme Unit (Unit No.29) is functioning, in this college. The National service scheme was launched on 24th September 1969 with the objective of enriching the students with a sense of service mindedness and to instill the INS the students the Gandhian vision of infusing social service and education. The Government College of Law, Thiruvananthapuram is actively conducting various programmes in two NSS units. The overall aim of National Service Scheme is to give an extension dimension to the Higher Education System and orient the student youth to community service while they arc studying in educational institution. Strength of the NSS Unit is 100. One of the faculty members is designated as Programme Officer. The Unit is actively engaged in Forest Conservation, Environmental Protection, Blood donation; etc.

 
The Programme Officer will be responsible for the organization of NSS Unit implementation of NSS Programme under the supervision and direction of the Principal of the college. He/She will be responsible to carry out the instructions issued by the Programme Co-ordinator of the University. The UnIt has been given special award for .thc best unit, best volunteer and best Programme Officer for the year 2007-2008.


During the academic year 2010-1 1, the Units conducted considerable number of programs and many of our students enthusiastically participated in various social welfare program, Blood donation and Health awareness camps and observance of National and International days.


The arduous support of the Principal and staff also made it possible to conduct such good number of programs to make the students aware of their social responsibilities.

16-08-2010- INAUGURATION OF BHOOMITRA SENA CLUB Bhoomitra sena club was constituted with 50 members and the club was inaugurated by K. Jayakumar, Additional Chief Secretary. 

17-09-2010 to 16-10-2010- MEGA CAMP AT VALIAKULAM, CHENKAL, About 30 active volunteers participated in the MEGA CAMP held at Valiakulam in Chenkal Grama

Panchayath. They sincerely took part in cleaning the valia kulam which is bigger than

a big pond, almost lake. It was an inspiring episode of a committed collective endeavour. 


27-10-2010- ONE DAY CAMP One Day Special camp was organized at the Government Law College Thiruvanan thapuram. About 150 volunteers attended and effectively participated in the camp. They cleaned the class rooms of the college and made all the arrangements for the SOUTH REGIONAL A.D.R. COMPETITION scheduled to

be held from 28/10/2010 to 30/10/2010.


22-11-2010- CAMPAIGN AGAINST ENDOSULFAN - The N S S unit and Bhoomitra club of this college organized Photo, Painting and News Exhibition at Govt. Law College on 22/11/2010 as part of the campaign against Endosulfan.  This programme was inaugurated by Prof. B. Sreekumar, N S S Programme Co Ordinator, Shri.Rahim, Co

Ordinator, Gandhian Studies Center and A. Suhruthkumar delivered speech on the campaign against endosulfan; 

24-11-2010 to 25-11-2010- ORIENTATION PROGRAMME Orientation programme for

the fresher's was conducted at Govt. Law College. Prof.B. Sreekumar, Programme Co- Ordinator, Kerala University conducted an effective and informative class and interacted with the fresh volunteers. He applauded the NSS unit for their meritorious services during the previous years and inspired the new comers to rise up to active volunteer ship as their seniors. Prof.S Usha, the Principal presided over the function. Dr.N. Krishnakumar and A. Suhruthkumar felicitated the function. At the end of the function the Principal distributed certificates to all the volunteers who had successfully attended the mega camp held from 16/ 09/2010 to 16/10/2010 at Valiakulam, Chenkal. 155 volunteers attended the programme.


24-11-2010 to 28-11-2010- SPECIAL CAMP AT ATTAPADI -We deputed three N S S

Volunteers, Gourav.V.Kumar, Devisree and Jyothi Thomas to attend the state level camp

on Environment awareness organized by National Service Scheme, Directorate of

Vocational Higher Secondary Education at Attapadi Hills Area Development Society

[AHADS]. They effectively attended and successfully performed in the camp.


01-12-2010- OBSERVANCE OF WORLD AIDS DAY

05-12-2010 to O7-12-2010- NATURE AWARENESS & EDUCATION CAMP.

A team of 47 N S S & Bhoomitra sena volunteers, 17 girls and 30 boys attended the NATURE EDUCATION CAMP held at Vellappara, ldukki Wildlife Sanctuary,

organized by Kerala Forests & Wildlife Department.



10-12-2010- HUMAN RIGHTS DAY CELEBRATION


10-12-2010-16-12-2010 - SEVEN DAY SPECIAL CAMP. The NSS units of our college conducted a seven day special camp at Kutyani in Vembayam Grama Panchayat from
10-12-2010 to 16-12-2010. This special camp was inaugurated by Shri.K.Vasudevan, Vice-President, Vembayam Grama panchayath. Variety of programmes were organized. The locals also took part in the programme.


Legal literacy classes were organized as part of the special camp at different places which enlightened the locals on various subjects. A medical camp was conducted wherein an overwhelming rush of locals was experienced for their health check ups in various medical units. Along with the medical camp an Eye donation camp was also conducted thereby 91 persons filled the form expressing their willingness to donate their eyes. A notable aspect of our camping programme was that a Grameena Adalat was conducted. An Adalat committee was set up under the leadership of Lekshmi Sreenivas and Ram

Kiran.

MALAYALAM ESSAY WRITING COMPETITION 


The N S S unit of Government Law College, Thiruvananthapuram in association with 

Bhoomitra Club conducted an Inter Collegiate quiz competition based on the topics Constitutional law, Freedom Movement in India and Environmental Perspective including Environmental laws. We also conducted a Malayalam Essay Writing Competition on the topics relating to the concept of Environment and other contemporary topics in relation to Environment along with the quiz competition. 


The Quiz competition and the Essay writing competition was proudly inaugurated by P.Sreekantan Nair, Project Management Specialist, Environment Management Agency Kerala(E M A K ) .Our Principal Prof.S.Usha presided over the function. Former Principal K.S.Ajayakumar felicitated the function. 26 candidates from 13 colleges in Kerala University participated in the quiz competition. The quiz masters were Shri.A. 

Suhruthkumar and Adv. Nipunsankar. 15 students participated in the Malayalam Essay writing Competition. In addition to that 100 NSS volunteers were also took part in conducting the competition very successfully.
